Way back when National Geographic photographers went out into the depths of Papua New Guinea they had in their heads what we cannot do looking at the darn screen at the back of the camera. They knew what they had in the can. Rather they knew precisely what would come out of the can three weeks down the road when they developed it.
I tend to need inspiration to carry the camera. Well inspired is too far. But you get the notion. Anyhowzies, some days I’ve the pixzas and reach for the camera with my first dose of coffee, some days mostly overcast days I don’t even think about photography.
These are a few shots from this mornings trip to the local town. The scamp thought she wasn’t coming with me so scampered into the bed.

The t-shirts are great…especially “Who’s your Paddy?” I want one.
As much as I like the exterior shots (and I do), I like these indoor ones…a little glimpse into the mysterious world.
I’ll remove this Rebecca. I don’t mind people knowing my name but I’d like a modicum of control over it. And google doesn’t play nice anymore due to it’s battle with FB
My camera is about six years old so it isn’t so good on indoor shots when the light is low. It was cutting edge at the time; for about a second. I have the money set aside for a DSLR but in the year I was waiting/dithering the price has come down and the quality has gone up. So now I’m looking at the next level wondering just where is the Golden Mean. We’re there with 14/16mg. You can crop that down to nothing and you’ll have focus. But image stabilization at higher magnification is shit with some.
I love the “who’s your Paddy” T-shirt. I’ll have to look for one for JR.
Look at her; all snuggled into bed…so cute.
You do know that there is a bit of play on the words.
Yeah the little brat. Her usual game is to head under the bed once knows she’s not going on a drive. But this time I was foustering with something in the car and when I went to get her there she was slotted into the covers.
I’ve always accused myself of being too artistic to photograph everyday stuff but always find myself wishing I had more photos of my journey through life. Just one of many internal battles I have with myself.
Yeah, I accuse myself of that each and every day. Usually happens when I sit in front of a blank screen.
There are times when I think we’ve too much. In that way if you had only six books to read you’d actually read them but having a choice of thousands in a shop one gets blinded.
I love the “Who’s your Paddy” shirt, too. Jess is just too cute! She looks so sweet burrowed under the covers.
I like to see the shine on her coat and the bright gleam in her eyes. And I’m soo soo convinced that she has a sense of humour.
After having a digital, I can’t even imagine shooting with a film camera anymore…nowadays taking 20 shots of the same thing just in case. It goes to show what true artists those film photographers are/were. Those shirts are great! Are they just out for upcoming St. Pat’s day or can you pick one of those up anytime over there?
What a happy dog Jess is!
I hadn’t thought about St Pat’s day. Could be, could be right enough.
Yes, truly amazing. But remember all the film cans you had that weren’t processed. Remember looking at shots wondering who the hell is that person. And remember paying a ruddy fortune for even thinking about taking a photograph.
I found a roll of film a few months back while cleaning. I’m dying to know what’s on it, but I can’t find anywhere to develop it…none of the regular photo-mat places do film anymore!
Those that had those developing machines had a license to print money. And no matter how many printers I go through, paying €12 for 32 prints was utterly extortionate. I’m glad they have gone the way of the buggy whip.
Oops, Sorry about the name thing. As the kids here say, ‘My bad’.
Anyway, I love my Canon Rebel. It’s just a bit heavy to carry around sometimes.
Imelda May is great! And the Jules Holland name brought me to another great video of Jeff Beck playing ‘What Mama Said’ on the show. Thx
Imelda is good, very good indeedy. She had a meteoric rise after working for 15 years in the business.
I can be your lucky charm was my favorite of those shirts. Although, a man should never wear that in public. It’s far too presumptuous. Very cute for lazing about the house though.
Your pooch sure looks comfy in your bed there. What a sweet face she has.
‘Keep it green’, is the only one that doesn’t have an undercurrent. Well it does but not a bad one.
Your dog is something else. And the shirts say you’re definitely in Ireland.
